The South Carolina State Museum in Columbia once operated as a textile mill. It now houses the State Museum and is known to be quite haunted. The ghost of "Bubba" is rumored to be the spirit of a worker who was decapitated in an industrial elevator shaft. His apparition has been spotted wearing overalls and is usually seen on the fourth floor of the museum.

Some witnesses have even reported riding the elevator with him. His spirit walks into the elevator, but when he exists, he walks down the hall before disappearing into the wall. Bubba's ghost has also appeared as a solid full body and sometimes as just boots and partial legs.
