The Gray Man of Pawleys Island is a ghost who likes to roam the beach area to warn people of storms that are coming. Stories say that he was a man who was traveling to see his fiancé, but on his way, his horse sunk into mud in the marshes of Pawleys Island. He died and his spirit is believed to still be searching for his love. He has been spotted dressed in gray, with a long coat and scarf. He has been appearing since 1822, and was seen right before Hurricane Florence in 2018.

    Me and my family was at a beach house at Pawleys Island for a family trip. Well one day me and my family was just chillin inside when out of know where we got a knock at the door and it was an old man with very old gray clothes on. All of a sudden he tells us we need to leave that the weather was about to become very dangerous and it wouldn't be safe for us to stay. The old man then turned around and walked away and all of sudden he was gone. My grandma's face turned so white and said let's go now. So we got Into the van and as we are leaving. My grandma asked if any of us had heard of the gray man and of course I had because I have always been into ghost. She said will you just spoke to the gray man. I didn't believe her at first. Until the next morning when we was watching the news and the beach house we were just all in had collapsed from the ocean. I cried because we wouldn't have made it out if that man wouldn't have shown up. After that I knew my grandma was telling the truth. So if your are ever in that area and you see him please leave right then. He is there to help you.
