Pickens County Museum
Pickens, SC 29671
Formerly a county jail, the Pickens Country Museum is no stranger to tragic tales. In fact, the ghost of former inmates can still be heard within the museum. One ghost in particular has gained public attention. In 1944 Willie Earle was a young boy who was imprisoned for murdering a cab driver. It is now believed that the driver was murdered by another passenger, not Willie. However, Willie would end his days pleading with people to believe he was innocent. He was murdered by a mob of furious cab drivers. It is believed that Willie can still be heard crying out this innocence.
