The ghost of Alice Flagg haunts this hermitage. According to legend, Alice moved in with her brother Dr. Allard Flagg. He was a possessive brother who was critical of his sister's life decisions. When he discovered her affair with a young lumberman, he disavowed the relationship and demanded Alice remove her engagement ring. Afterwards he sent his sister to boarding school. While she was away, Alice contracted malaria and became critically ill. She returned to her brother who treated her symptoms. During this time he discovered that Alice had never abandoned her ring, and instead, she had hid it under her dress. Furious, Allard removed the ring and hurled it into the marshes. Soon after, Alice succumbed to her illness. It is believed that her ghost scours the hermitage for lost the ring. She can be seen walking out the front door and into the All Saints Cemetery. Visitors to the hermitage will often leave flowers at Alice's tombstone.

Lifetime Movie About Alice Flagg

Even though none of us had been here, the movie exposed us to the legend, and we dove right in! We added a whole section on the movie's page about the legend of Alice. We liked this page well enough to include a link back here. This place is definitely on my bucket list, and I love hearing about other's personal paranormal experiences (I've had several, just not with Alice). Keep up the good work!
